Education Coordinator
Bead & Powwow Supply is focused on making culture, art, and fashion more accessible, which involves teaching the crafts. In order to promote and make the arts and crafts more accessible, Bead & Powwow Supply is currently searching for an Education Coordinator. The Education Coordinator will be responsible for organizing and teaching basic beading and/or sewing classes to customers and community members.
Description:
- Starting pay at $15 an hour; expected ten hours a week, with option to increase hours as courses begin running
- Will be expected to teach basic beading and sewing classes that will utilize materials that are currently stocked in the store
- Will be expected to run the Craft & Visits (open crafting sessions at least twice a month. Day/time can be flexible to coordinator's schedule)
- Will identify additional instructors and courses for special classes that may differ from the experience held by the Education Coordinator
- Help create policies for the classes to be held and any other relevant policies that may be needed in this area
- Portions of this job can be done from home. A laptop can be provided to the employee, if needed
- Employee discount on most merchandise, which can be used after successfully completing the first pay period.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience with beading and/or sewing
- Needs to be able to properly use Microsoft Office and Email
- High School Diploma or GED
- Reliable Transportation; carpooling from SE Grand Rapids may be an option
- Availability to run crafting in the Grand Rapids storefront at least twice a month
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Powwow Regalia
- Associates Degree

- The typical schedule will be 15-20 hours/week; some weeks over 20 hours.
- Pay starts at $14.00/hour; bi-weekly pay schedule. Bonuses and raises available after 6 months employment.
- Retail experience and/or knowledge of Indigenous art and fashion are preferred, but not required.
- Employee discount on most merchandise, which can be used after successfully completing the first pay period.
- Candidates should have reliable transportation to Cascade Township; carpooling from SE Grand Rapids may be an option.
- Must be available to work April 11-13, May 2-3.
We're offering part-time positions at our Grand Rapids store. If you're 18 years or older, legally authorized to work in the US, and are in the Grand Rapids area, this may be great for you. Retail experience and an interest in Indigenous art/fashion are preferred, but not required.
As a small business, we cross-train all of our staff on sales, customer service, and ecommerce. Everyone on our small team contributes to work, which means you'll help clean and also give input on strategic planning (not at the same time).
