Public Talks

Great for artist guilds and libraries! Ellie Mitchell can visit your organization to talk about Indigenous fashion, approach to crafting, history and cultural revitalization. Time ranges from 45 to 90 minutes. Beading workshop add-on also available. Previous presentations have been held at Michigan State University, Grand Rapids Public Library, and Woodland Weavers and Spinners Guild.

Community Engagement Methods and Planning

Geared toward organizations doing cultural work within tribal communities, we offer various consulting services. Let us help you engage with the artists and knowledge keepers in your community, reach the tribal members who live far away or rarely attend, and plan an engaging yet sustainable calendar of cultural events. 

Tribal Cultural Awareness Training

We offer trainings for organizations that want to conduct work in Indian Country. Native American cultures (yes, plural) vary widely from each other and from mainstream American society. The professional skills you have may not translate well in tribal communities. Our training gives you the basic skills to begin work with Indigenous peoples. 

Training can be customized to the needs of your organization’s goals and location. Offered via Zoom or in-person (for additional travel fees). Two tracks are available: one for external organizations and one for tribal organizations. 

Small Business and Artist Services

Do you own a craft business that struggles to appeal to young people? Are you a small business owner wondering how you can reach more of your community? Are you an artist interested in professionalizing your booth set up, proposals and emails? Ellie Mitchell can help! Sliding scale for fees for small businesses and artists, means that services are affordable for different sized organizations.
