Description

The Opaque Periwinkle is a pale, delicate hue that is popular for many kinds of beadwork. This color is often called Pale Blue or Sioux Blue. We call it periwinkle because that's what it was called by the cultural teachers at the tribal school on our reservation. Suggested use: adds depth to dark color combinations.

Opaque glass does not allow any light to pass through the bead. This gives these beads a solid look that is still shiny. Many of our customers refer to this as the "regular" or "plain" beads as they are some of the most commonly found beads in both historical and contemporary indigenous bead art.

Seed beads are a very popular and time-honored option for any bead artist, whether your art is worn on the powwow trail, displayed in a gallery, or adorning a person. They are fairly uniform in shape and size. They can be used in virtually any beaded project, including applique or flat stitch, lane stitch, peyote stitch, loomwork, bead weaving, bead stringing and jewelry making. Since they are so versatile, we recommend using seed beads for beginning beaders, classes, and workshops.

Size 12 or (or 12/0) Seed Beads measure between 1.8-2.0mm. The hole of the bead is at least 0.50mm in width. Beads are sold strung on hanks; each hank contains 12 20-inch strands. Approximately 4,700 beads per hank. Made in the Czech Republic.
