Description

These beads are not color-fast. Colors will fade or rub off! We strongly advise against using in powwow regalia or other pieces that will be regularly exposed to sunlight, sweat, skin, friction. To prolong life, store in a dark, dry place.

Are you a fan of the basketball team in LA? Then this is the purple for you. Opal Sovereign Purple (dyed) is a darker purple. It is not like the amethysts we carry, but more of an actual purple tone. Although it may fade over time, it can bring some real color and texture to your beadwork.

Opal beads have a cloudy translucent appearance. Light can pass through the bead, but the glass is not see-through, like transparent beads. Because the glass is translucent stringing material color can affect the overall appearance; beads strung on black thread will look darker than the same beads strung on white thread. Available in a limited range of colors, opal beads are the closest contemporary substitute for the historical “greasy” beads.

Seed beads are a very popular and time-honored option for any bead artist, whether your art is worn on the powwow trail, displayed in a gallery, or adorning a person. They are fairly uniform in shape and size. They can be used in virtually any beaded project, including applique or flat stitch, lane stitch, peyote stitch, loomwork, bead weaving, bead stringing and jewelry making. Since they are so versatile, we recommend using seed beads for beginning beaders, classes, and workshops.

Size 11 (or 11/0) Seed Beads measure between 2.0-2.2mm. The hole of the bead is at least 0.60mm in width. Beads are sold strung on hanks; each hank contains 12 20-inch strands. Approximately 4,000 beads per hank. Made in the Czech Republic.
