This beaded rope bracelet is a beautiful accent piece for any outfit and occasion. Beaded ropes are made by tightly wrapping beads around a piece of rope and secure the beads with the rope by tacking down the threads; while it sounds simple, this technique requires skill and forethought in setting the pattern. Artists often create visually striking pieces with the lines and blocks of color that this technique allows.
This piece is made from first-quality Size 11 Seed Beads from the Czech Republic. Bracelet has adjustable length, 8-9.5 inches in total. The beaded portion measures 6 inches in length. Spring clasp. Made in Anishinaabewaki by Tiana Schocko.
Tiana Schocko is Eagle Clan and a member of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, with familial ties to the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi. Tiana grew up around many beaders, on the powwow trail and in the communities where she has lived. It is through watching those artists for all those years that Tiana learned how to bead. She has been beading for three years. Tiana offers the following advice for Indigenous artists: "Practice makes perfect. It is okay to get inspire, but never [okay] to copy."
